According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al-Nashra, Joseph Aoun, President of Lebanon, stated that the Lebanese army currently carries a critical mission. He emphasized that only the army-without any domestic or foreign partners-should extend state sovereignty across Lebanon’s territory and borders and fully enforce control over the entire country.
Aoun stressed that expanding the army’s control throughout Lebanese territory must progress alongside dialogue aimed at halting Israeli violations and ensuring Israel’s withdrawal from occupied areas within Lebanon.
He added that Lebanon’s political forces have previously reached consensus on negotiations more than ten times. The most recent were talks during 2020 and 2022 concerning maritime border demarcations. In November last year, negotiations also took place with the goal of stopping Israeli attacks and ensuring exclusive government authority over weapons in Lebanon.
