Julani: I Was Not an Al-Qaeda Member in 2001; Negotiations with Israel Are Currently Impossible

The leader of​ the terrorist group ruling Syria denied any connection to the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Abu Muhammad⁢ al-Julani rejected ties to al-qaida ‌during the September 11 ‍attacks in ‌an ‍interview with Fox News. He⁤ said,⁢ “I was only 19 years old at that time, vrey young,⁤ and had no role in decision-making. I have no connection to ⁢that event, and al-Qaida was not active where I lived then.”

Regarding the possibility ‍of normalizing relations with Israel under the Abraham Accords framework, he stated: “We are not currently ready for direct negotiations with israel.The dispute‍ between Damascus and Tel⁢ Aviv over ⁤sovereignty of ​the Golan⁣ heights remains a major ‍obstacle.”

However, al-Julani did not rule out negotiations with the Israeli occupation regime altogether. He added: “It is ‌possible‌ that the‌ U.S.government and former President Donald​ Trump could pave the way ​for such talks in the future.”
