Muqtada al-Sadr’s Veiled Threat: What Does the “Bullet of Mercy” Mean?!

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, the Telegram channel “Iraq Developments” reported that shortly after today’s parliamentary elections concluded, Moqtada al-Sadr-known as the foremost proponent of election boycott-issued a new statement.
Throughout today, he released three statements personally signed by him. His spokesperson, saleh masleh al-iraqi, also responded with ten messages. Among them, al-Sadr’s latest declaration carries significantly greater weight.
Key excerpts from this statement are as follows:
“Although we called for an election boycott, we never sought to disrupt the voting process; our goal is not power but rather the salvation of our homeland.”
“Voting ended without major incidents. The only notable issue was the low turnout compared to the high number of boycotters-those who refused to participate in betraying their country by reinstating ineffective and repetitive political figures. May God reward them.”
“from today onward-without excuses-the duty lies with those who benefited from these votes: to restore Iraq to its rightful position and rescue it from its current crisis and foreign interference.”
“The election winners are also obligated to protect Iraqi citizens from unregulated and unlawful weapons so that firearms remain exclusively under security forces’ control-including Popular Mobilization Forces (al-Hashd al-Shaabi)-with no armed groups operating outside legal frameworks.”
“They must defend Iraq against foreign threats without capitulating or making concessions that undermine the rights of the people and fighters.”
“It is also their duty to stand firmly and honestly against corruption by exposing corrupt individuals and their cases.”
“Otherwise, mercy bullets will strike at democracy’s core.”
“Our homeland faces internal and external dangers causing dysfunction in governance and violation of rights.”
“We will not remain silent about this situation moving forward because we still seek reform and hope to save Iraq from decay.”
