Netanyahu Ally Claims Reason Behind Resignation from Israeli Cabinet

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Arabiya, Ron Dermer, Israel’s Minister of Strategic Affairs, who resigned yesterday, is considered one of Prime Minister Netanyahu’s closest confidants.
In his statement, Dermer emphasized that he has decided to end his political activities because he believes changes are necessary.
Dermer claimed he resigned to spend more time with his family and begin a new phase in his life. This resignation comes amid a wave of departures by Israeli officials following the catastrophic failures faced by Israel during Operation Al-Aqsa Storm.
The Israeli newspaper Israel Hayom reported in August 2025 that Dermer contemplated resigning after Israel’s aggression against Iran. He was a prominent figure in Netanyahu’s cabinet and headed the negotiation team with the Palestinian side. Dermer was also responsible for security-related contacts regarding Syria after Bashar al-Assad’s regime fell and handled secret communications between Netanyahu and several global officials.
