Warning Issued on Environmental and Health Catastrophe in Gaza

The ⁣Mayor of ⁤Khan ‍Younis in southern Gaza Strip reported the near-complete destruction of the region’s vegetation due to relentless‍ attacks by the Israeli regime and ⁤warned of an environmental and health catastrophe across ⁣Gaza.

according to the English section ⁢of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Alaa al-Din al-Battah, Mayor of Khan Younis, told Al Jazeera‍ that Israel’s aggression against Gaza‌ is not a random occurrence but ‍a purposeful and planned strategy aimed at destroying all aspects ‌of life in the area-from infrastructure and ‍homes⁣ to agricultural lands‌ and‌ vegetation.

He emphasized that ⁢more then 90 percent of vegetation throughout the Gaza Strip has been completely destroyed.

Al-Battah added that rescue ‍teams and municipal workers face major challenges reaching waste disposal⁢ sites because repeated bombings ‍have⁣ damaged many roads, while critical infrastructure‍ has collapsed.

The ⁤mayor warned about the consequences ‌if this situation continues, saying: “What is happening in Gaza is a real environmental and health disaster threatening thousands of lives.”

He stressed that ongoing sieges⁤ and Israeli obstruction preventing humanitarian aid and cleanup equipment from⁤ entering have worsened the crisis, making any efforts to restore ⁢the⁤ habitat unfeasible.
