UK Claims Greek Tanker Diverted Course Toward Iran

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the Associated Press, the UK Royal Navy’s Maritime Trade Operations center alleged that a tanker suddenly altered its course and entered Iranian territorial waters while transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
The British maritime security company Ambrey also claimed that several small vessels had been shadowing the tanker prior to its change in direction.
The report identified the vessel as Talara, flying the Marshall Islands flag. It was reportedly en route from Ajman port in the UAE to Singapore.
The Associated Press stated that tracking data showed the tanker diverted toward Iranian waters without explanation. Greek owners of the ship have yet to respond to requests for comment.
Maritime sources reported that a U.S. Navy drone had been flying over the area where Talara was located for several hours.
