Abu Suda: Preliminary Results of Iraq Parliamentary Election Are Contestable

The⁣ Deputy Official Spokesperson of Iraq’s Autonomous High Electoral Commission stated that ⁤the preliminary parliamentary election results are subject to ⁢appeal.

The Independent High ⁢Electoral commission of Iraq has outlined the multi-stage process for finalizing election results ‌and confirming the winners, according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing WAM News Agency.

Nibras Abu Souda, Deputy Official Spokesperson for the commission, explained that before announcing final results, several ⁤stages will ⁢take place ‍involving seat‌ distribution and declaration of winners. Initially, the commission will focus ⁣on reviewing and resolving registered complaints and addressing polling stations that failed to submit data within ⁤six hours after polls closed via the data transmission system.

Abu Souda ⁤added that preliminary results are open to objections. ⁣These objections will first be examined by⁤ the‍ commission and then by the ⁣Electoral Judicial Board.

He noted that⁣ once‍ this review process is complete, the Judicial Board will officially announce‍ full closure of all appeals. This‍ announcement serves⁤ as formal notification for ⁤the commission to proceed with completing this stage.

The deputy spokesperson emphasized that after these steps ‌conclude, the ‌commission will submit final results-including⁤ names and allocation of ⁤all⁢ 329 parliamentary seats-to‍ the Federal Supreme ‍Court for approval.

Abu Souda confirmed this procedure does not have a fixed timeline but depends on fully completing each necessary step ‍in due⁤ course.
