BBC Announces It Will Not Pay Damages to Trump

According to the english section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr News Agency and BBC, a spokesperson for the British broadcaster said their lawyers responded with a letter to Donald Trump’s legal team following a letter received last Sunday.
The letter admitted that BBC’s editing unintentionally gave the impression that they were presenting a continuous segment of Trump’s speech. This created a misleading perception that the US President directly called for violent action.
However,BBC’s lawyers rejected any claims for damages, stating: “While BBC sincerely regrets how the video clip was edited,we strongly disagree that this matter constitutes grounds for defamation.”
Trump’s lawyers have threatened to sue BBC for $1 billion unless they issue a corrective statement, apologize, and compensate for damages.
