U.S. President Rejects ‌BBC Apology for Distorting His Speech and Raises Compensation Claim

According to the english section ⁣of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and The Guardian, despite the British broadcaster BBC issuing an apology for editing one of President Donald Trump’s speeches, he told reporters he⁤ will pursue legal⁢ action.

Trump said to reporters: “We will problably ⁤sue‍ them‌ next week and seek between⁣ one and five billion‍ dollars in damages.”

The U.S. president⁣ mentioned a five-billion-dollar claim even though Trump’s lawyers had previously threatened to file a one-billion-dollar lawsuit against BBC if⁣ they⁤ failed to apologize and compensate for‌ the damage.

The ⁤BBC has stated it will⁢ not ‌pay compensation to the U.S. president for distorting his ⁢speech.

BBC’s ‌lawyers rejected the damage claim, writing: “Although BBC sincerely regrets how the video clip was edited, this does not justify filing a defamation claim.”
