Quadruple Committee to Convene Soon to Address Sudan Crisis

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and the Arabic website 21, Shirin Yaseen, assistant spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, said that Ramadan Al-Bammamra, UN Special Envoy to Sudan, is currently consulting with the African Union on a proposal to swiftly convene a quadruple committee meeting. This committee will include representatives from the United Nations, African Union, IGAD, and Arab League aimed at fostering collective regional and international cooperation to resolve Sudan’s crisis.
Yaseen added in an interview with Arabic 21 that Al-Bammamra coordinates his efforts with other mediatory bodies. These include members of a foreign ministers’ initiative formed by Egypt, saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. Through unifying these efforts,they seek a comprehensive and sustainable political solution in Sudan.
She noted that humanitarian conditions in Fashir and Darfur have deteriorated since late October due to nearly 100,000 civilians fleeing their homes amid growing needs. Yaseen called for safe passage for those trapped as well as provision of essential aid including food, water, and services.
The assistant spokesperson stressed accountability for all individuals who have ordered or carried out killings or sexual violence-and those supplying weapons to perpetrators-emphasizing they must be held responsible for their actions.
Yaseen also revealed that UN personnel are currently not present inside Fashir but continue operations through partners across Darfur.
Highlighting risks faced by international staff amid ongoing violence-including deaths-she demanded clear security guarantees and secure routes to protect civilians and humanitarian teams.
