Afghanistan Emphasizes Using Iran Route for Global Trade

The spokesperson ⁢for Afghanistan’s Ministry of Commerce declared Iran’s Chabahar port as the best route for trade with other countries.

According to the ‍English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Abdul⁣ salam Jawad Akhundzada, spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Ministry of Commerce, told Reuters that over ⁤the past six‌ months, kabul’s trade volume with Islamabad reached $1.1 billion, ⁣while trade with Iran rose to $1.6 ‌billion.

He added that using Iran’s‍ Chabahar port has reduced delays and facilitated smoother cargo ⁢movement.

The Afghan official noted that Iran ⁤has installed updated equipment and​ X-ray⁣ machines at the port and offers Afghanistan 30%⁢ discount on port tariffs, 75% reduction in storage fees, and a 55% concession on docking charges ​for their ⁢goods.

Reuters reported that tariff discounts, lower​ storage costs, and faster processing have ⁢boosted activity at Chabahar port and increased ​its use by Afghan traders.
