Lebanese Parliamentarian: The U.S. Is Not a Fair or Just Mediator
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al-Akhbar, Hussein al-hajj Hassan, a representative of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc in Lebanon’s parliament, rejected claims that the existence of resistance weapons is responsible for Israeli aggression. He emphasized that the United States is not an impartial mediator but a promoter of Zionist agendas.
Al-Hajj Hassan underscored that current proposals presented to Lebanon-including creating buffer zones, continuing occupation, and dismantling power bases-are measures imposed previously on Syria. These measures do not target only the resistance but also aim at weakening Lebanon’s government itself.
He stressed: “The United States is neither a just nor fair mediator; it is actively leading and fueling Zionist projects across the region.”
The parliamentarian criticized Lebanese factions calling for disarming resistance forces as if their weapons were excuses for Israeli attacks. He dismissed this viewpoint sharply.
Referring to previous agreements monitored by Washington and guaranteed by the UN with French involvement-agreements demanding enemy withdrawal from Lebanese lands, halting aggression, prisoner releases, and reconstruction-he questioned repeated calls for new negotiations with Israel. “If prior agreements were ignored by Israel,” he asked, “why enter talks seeking new ones?”
Highlighting Syria’s example, he said: “Does Syria have resistance forces or weapons? Yet Israel continues occupying more territory there and declares no intention to withdraw.”
He added: “Syria’s current regime aligns with America politically while occupation persists. Retreating before an enemy leads only to greater demands. Weakening power components results in increased vulnerability.” He reaffirmed that “resistance and national unity remain our sole guarantees for deterrence and protection.”
