Iraqi Official: New Government Formation Could Take Six Months

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al-Maalomah, mokhtar Al-Musawi, a member of Iraq’s parliament, emphasized that negotiations to form the future government could be challenging and complex.
He added that the proclamation of preliminary parliamentary election results has provided a clearer picture of the political alignments among groups within both the Coordination Framework coalition and among Sunni, Kurdish, and Turkmen factions.
Al-Musawi stated that consultations began two days ago and initial meetings have been held to draft a roadmap for establishing the next government.
He stressed that forming iraq’s upcoming government will not be an easy task and may require five to six months.The identity of the new prime minister remains uncertain at this stage.
