Palestine in Manon Aubry’s View: Genocide in Gaza and Colonization in the West Bank

Guest Commentary, Amirhossein Moghimi: Manon Aubry, a representative of the left-wing party France Insoumise and co-chair of the Left group in the European Parliament, who is currently in Palestine, has witnessed alarming human rights violations across Palestinian territories. In her recent remarks, she exposed what she called genocide in Gaza and intensified colonial policies in the West Bank. She urged Europe to break its silence and take action to halt these injustices.
While in Palestine, Aubry highlighted Gaza’s ongoing crisis under siege and relentless bombardment. Meanwhile, Israeli colonization has escalated in the West Bank, increasingly depriving Palestinians of their rights.
She spoke about Israel’s seizure of Palestinian lands, settler violence, and severe economic hardships caused by occupation. Aubry stressed that these actions violate international law and form part of Israel’s colonial policy aiming to consolidate control and erase Palestinian identity.
A key focus of aubry’s remarks was Hebron (al-Khalil), one of the West Bank’s most critical areas. She stated that Hebron symbolizes Israel’s colonial ideology. The city hosts over 28 military checkpoints were Palestinians face mounting humiliation and violence daily.
Streets remain closed to Palestinians; children must navigate long, dangerous routes to attend school. aubry described this situation as an example of Israel’s “apartheid regime” and emphasized the urgent need to end repression and discrimination.
Aubry called on European countries to break their silence about these widespread human rights abuses and take effective measures against them.
She underscored Europe’s responsibility toward Palestinian rights while condemning any tolerance or disregard for these crimes. According to her statement,only through international pressure combined with global solidarity can this dire situation be resolved.
Aubry’s comments as a European Parliament member have placed Palestine at the center of global attention, urging especially Europe to respond firmly against human rights violations ther. She asserted it is time to end Israel’s apartheid regime-and Europe must play an active role toward this goal.
