Senior Islamic Jihad Official: U.S. Control of Gaza Is Unacceptable

According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Mehr News Agency,Mohammed al-Hindi,Deputy Secretary-General of the Islamic Jihad Movement,told Al Jazeera that the revised U.S. draft resolution on Gaza remains vague and ignores basic issues facing his people.
He added that until the responsibilities and formation mechanism of a proposed peace council are clearly defined, it risks becoming a form of legal occupation.
The deputy secretary-general emphasized that imposing Israeli and American perspectives on Palestinians under UN auspices is unacceptable.
He continued by stating that deploying an international force in Gaza as a replacement for occupation is also unacceptable.
Al-Hindi further noted that the Security Council draft resolution employs ambiguous language regarding a Palestinian state and fails to guarantee Gaza’s connection to the West Bank.
This senior leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad asserted that the U.S. resolution uses vague terms aimed at appeasing Arab and islamic countries without safeguarding Palestinians’ rights.
He stressed that the American draft sets new rules for conflict and threatens to fragment Gaza.
Al-Hindi said: “We will not except Gaza being administered by America.”
The deputy secretary-general added that moast countries worldwide have declined participation in any international force in Gaza due to its undefined mission.
If adopted by the Security Council, he warned they will thoroughly assess the situation and announce their stance regarding upcoming developments.
