Hamas: US Resolution Will Not Aid Stability in Gaza

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem told Al Jazeera that the amendments made to the US draft resolution on Gaza will not aid in stabilizing the situation in the enclave.
He added, “We seek a Security Council resolution that protects our people’s right to self-determination and prevents war against Gaza.”
The Hamas spokesperson emphasized, “We want a Security Council resolution that stops aggression by occupiers against Gaza, the West Bank, or occupied Jerusalem.”
Qassem stressed that Washington is trying to appease certain parties by including non-binding language in its draft resolution concerning Gaza.
He also stated, “A resolution must be passed at the Security Council that reinforces a ceasefire in Gaza.”
The UN Security Council will discuss President Biden’s Gaza initiative on Tuesday, november 17.
The draft resolution was prepared by the United States claiming consultations with council members and regional partners. It enjoys support from Qatar, Egypt, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Jordan, and Turkey.
The vote on this resolution will take place amid Russia-holding veto power-proposing an choice plan backed by China.
