China and Japan Prime Ministers Will Not Meet on G20 Sidelines

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News agency and Reuters, China’s Foreign Ministry stated that Premier Li Qiang has no plans to meet with Japanese Prime Minister sanae Takaichi during the G20 summit in South Africa.
Mao Ning, spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry, said at a weekly press briefing: “The Japanese prime minister’s remarks on Taiwan have severely damaged the political foundation of China-Japan relations. Japan must retract these incorrect statements.”
Earlier this month, Takaichi told Japan’s parliament that if China attacks Taiwan, Japan might respond militarily. These comments have raised concerns about escalating regional tensions.
The G20 summit is scheduled for November 22 and 23 in South Africa.
