according to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Al Mayadeen, Syrian sources have revealed that Jolani plans to transfer Uyghur fighters to china.
A Syrian military source stated that Syria seeks to deliver the Uyghur fighters to Beijing.
No further details have been released on this matter.
Since Bashar al-Assad’s fall, the Uyghurs have become more visible in Damascus. Though, their future in Syria remains uncertain and could pose a challenge for any new government attempting to convince global powers it can control foreign fighters and prevent cross-border threats.
The Uyghurs reside mainly in Idlib or neighborhoods near the city of Jisr al-Shughur. Often referred to by Syrians as “Turkistanis,” they have established schools, as well as gas stations and restaurants.
the Uyghurs bake traditional round, thick bread in local bakeries, which has attracted interest from some Syrian neighbors. The vast majority lack passports but possess identification cards. Hundreds are enrolled at Idlib University, where the interim government has declared they are entitled to free education just like Syrians.
The interim Syrian government has incorporated them into its official military structure-reflecting the role of Uyghur fighters in efforts against Assad’s regime; according to their leaders, around 11,000 among them have died during this conflict.
the presence of the Turkistan Islamic Party in Syria could carry serious implications for Damascus’s future and its efforts toward lifting international sanctions.
