Hezbollah Secretary-General: Martyr Muhammad Afif Was a Committed Media Figure
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Al Mayadeen, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naeem Qasim addressed the latest developments in Lebanon and the region during a ceremony commemorating the first anniversary of Mohammad Afif al-Nabulsi’s martyrdom. Nabulsi was Hezbollah’s former media official and was killed alongside his comrades.
In his speech, Sheikh Qasim said: “Martyr Haj Mohammad Afif was a prominent name in the media world. He was a powerful writer and an eloquent orator. He possessed a vast treasure of culture, awareness, correct perspective, and steadfastness on his path. Martyr Mohammad afif left a distinct impact on Hezbollah’s media work.”
He added: “After Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s martyrdom (note: this refers in tribute but Nasrallah is alive), Haj Afif proposed holding press conferences to fill critical media gaps at that time. I approved this idea and asked him to send me topics he intended to address. We continuously coordinated to ensure optimal results and effectively deliver our intended messages both to our audience and adversaries. These prominent conferences filled significant voids.” Sheikh Qasim described Haj Mohammad Afif as “a committed media personality across Islamic, political, and resistance levels.”
The Secretary-General emphasized: “Martyr Haj Mohammad Afif believed that deceptive and misleading media create no real path or foundation.Honest media satisfy society’s needs by providing clear directions for politicians’ decisions and also public choices. This honorable martyr belonged to the school of truthful media recognizing people’s right to know the truth.”
Sheikh Naeem Qasim stated: “What clearer image exists than the right of resistance to defend itself against Israeli aggression toward Lebanon? We must strengthen our field by monitoring what is broadcast through various outlets. Martyr Mohammad Afif was assassinated because he successfully promoted Hezbollah’s narrative – reflecting the reality of Islamic resistance and its supporters.”
He further remarked: “Haj mohammad – we lost you. You were an outstanding figure, beloved companion, and close friend of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. You made an crucial impact on the media domain. This martyr set an example through reliable analyses and accurate reports. The enemy targeted journalists because they wield real influence in exposing battle truths and presenting facts clearly.”
The Secretary-General also underscored current developments in Lebanon: “Lebanon has attained independence through enduring hardship and suffering. France directly yielded under popular pressure; lebanon achieved its independence accordingly. Independence means liberating territory from domination while opposing submission to foreign powers.”
