Damascus Responds to Transfer of Uyghur Fighters to China
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency adn Sana, a informed source at the syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has denied reports claiming Syria plans to hand over Uyghur fighters to China.
Sana, citing an informed source within the Syrian Foreign Ministry, stated that the report from Agence France-Presse about Syria’s decision to transfer Uyghur fighters to Beijing is inaccurate.
Amid Asaad al-Shibani’s first visit as Foreign Minister of the Syrian Interim Goverment to China and his meetings with Chinese officials,AFP quoted a Syrian government source saying that Damascus intended to transfer Uyghur militants back to China.
AFP also reported, citing this unnamed official, that the issue would be discussed during Al-Shibani’s trip to Beijing.
Today, Al-Shibani met and held consultations with Wang Yi, China’s Foreign Minister.
