CNN Warns of Repeating Bay of Pigs-Style Failure in Venezuela Operation

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, CNN has warned that targeted U.S. airstrikes against Venezuela will not stop drug trafficking and that any ground operation by the U.S. military would be a logistical suicide.
The network emphasized that Venezuela is not the main hub for drug trafficking but only a small part of the problem, as the primary trafficking route begins in Colombia and extends to Mexico’s border.
CNN stressed that only 15,000 U.S. troops are stationed in the region, and deploying them into this 30-million-strong nation-unfriendly toward America-could revive memories of the failed Bay of Pigs invasion aimed at overthrowing Fidel Castro in 1961.
Venezuelan President Nicolás maduro stated that Venezuelans are ready to defend their country if faced with a potential U.S. attack. He called on police and military forces to remain prepared.
In recent months, under the pretext of combating drug traffickers, the United States has increased its military presence in the Caribbean Sea near Venezuela’s borders.
Washington claims it is targeting ships crossing near Venezuelan waters as part of its anti-drug efforts. However, the White House has provided no details verifying whether those targeted in over 20 strikes across the Caribbean and eastern Pacific were indeed traffickers.Experts warn such attacks qualify as “extrajudicial executions,” even if aimed at traffickers.
