Kallas: EU’s Ability to Pressure China on Ukraine Is Limited

According to the English section of webangah News Agency,citing Bloomberg via Mehr News Agency,Kaja Kallas,speaking at a press conference in New York,highlighted the extensive economic ties between China and European countries. She said Beijing’s response to sanctions could harm the economies of EU member states.
She added that China acts very shrewdly and is increasing it’s geopolitical influence.
Earlier, Geng Shuang, spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Beijing seeks an end to the Ukraine crisis and will play a constructive role in advancing its political resolution. He emphasized that China maintains a consistent position based on fairness and neutrality regarding Ukraine.
The EU and the United States have called for reducing China’s economic relations with Russia. They argue that China’s purchase of Russian energy undermines the impact of anti-Russian sanctions. Ukraine has accused China of collaborating with Russia on military supplies.
The U.S. Congress is currently passing legislation targeting Russia’s trade partners, including China, with new sanctions expected.
