Witkac and Zelensky Meeting Postponed

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and al Jazeera, Axios reported, quoting a U.S. official, that the planned meeting between Steve Bettsakoff, the U.S. Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs, and Volodymyr Zelensky has been postponed due to “the Ukrainian president’s withdrawal from prior agreements between Washington and Kyiv.”
The report states that Zelensky had earlier traveled to Ankara with a new plan developed in collaboration with some European partners-a plan that the U.S. official claims Russia will reject.
Axios also noted that this postponement coincides with ongoing investigations into a corruption case in Ukraine.
In related developments, the British Financial Times cited informed sources revealing that the U.S. proposal for Ukraine includes banning foreign troop deployments on its soil.
These sources added that under this proposal, Kyiv would be barred from receiving Western long-range weapons, while its military personnel would be reduced by half. The plan also involves restrictions on certain types of Ukrainian armaments.
Reacting to these reports, Germany’s Foreign Minister Johann Wadenfuhl stated that Washington has not informed Berlin about this “new peace plan” for Ukraine.
He emphasized that further efforts are essential to peacefully resolve the crisis in Ukraine.
Wadenfuhl added: “There is no option to negotiation processes-that is what I take away from current joint meetings in Istanbul.”
