Axios: Ukraine Must Cede Part of Its Territory

According to the english section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, the American website Axios reported on the provisions of the U.S. peace plan for Ukraine. The new plan proposed by Donald Trump includes ceding parts of eastern Ukraine to Russia in exchange for U.S. security guarantees protecting Ukraine adn Europe against future Russian aggression.
An informed U.S. official told Axios that the White House aims to prevent these regions from being potentially lost later in the ongoing war, making an agreement beneficial for Ukraine now.
Under Trump’s 28-point plan, russia would gain full operational control over Donetsk and Luhansk (Donbas), even though Ukraine still holds about 14.5 percent of these areas. After transfer, these zones would be designated as demilitarized, with no Russian military presence allowed. In other conflict-affected areas like Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, current control lines would largely remain intact, with some land returning to Russia subject to negotiation.
The plan also imposes limits on Ukraine’s military capabilities and long-range weapons while providing security guarantees from the United States to Kyiv. qatar and Turkey have played roles in drafting this proposal and backing American mediation efforts.Negotiations between Steve Wittkoff, Trump’s representative, and Rustem umarov, security adviser to Ukraine’s president, shaped many points within the plan.
Though, Ukrainian sources indicate that presidential advisers oppose many clauses of the proposal and have postponed discussions on it until a later date.
The ultimate decision by Ukraine regarding acceptance remains unclear as international negotiations continue involving European countries and Turkey. Experts predict this plan could have notable implications for the future course of the conflict and also stability in Ukraine and Europe.
