Media reports indicate an explosion occurred on a docked ship at the Port of Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed that an explosion on the deck of a cargo ship at the Port of San Pedro sparked a fire in the area, according to webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia Today.
At least 100 firefighters were deployed to control and extinguish the blaze.Media reports state that 23 crew members aboard the ship were rescued.
The mayor of Los Angeles announced ongoing efforts to contain the fire.
