South Africa: US Absence Will Not Affect G20 Summit

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr News Agency and Novosti, a South African government official emphasized that the U.S. absence from the G20 summit in Johannesburg will have no impact on the meeting.
The source added that Pretoria welcomes washington’s decision to attend the closing session of the summit.
It is indeed worth noting that the G20 leaders’ summit began today, Saturday, in Johannesburg, South Africa; this marks the first time the group has held its meeting on African soil.
This year’s summit faces tensions between Washington and the European Union over Ukraine’s future, and also deadlock in climate negotiations hosted by Brazil.
World leaders attending include French President Emmanuel Macron, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Brazilian President Lula da silva, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Tho, former U.S. President Donald Trump’s governance stated that South Africa’s priorities regarding trade cooperation and climate action do not align with American policies. As an inevitable result, Trump chose not to participate in this year’s meeting.
The G20 consists of 19 member countries plus the European Union. The African Union attends certain sessions as a guest and observer.
