The joint statement, released on November 22 by several senior EU officials and European institutions, said: “The U.S.plan on Ukraine can serve as a foundation for settling the conflict; though,it requires amendments and completion.”
It added: “The European Union is ready to play its role in ensuring lasting peace in Ukraine’s future.”

This comes after a report last Thursday quoting a senior U.S. government official stated that former President Donald Trump approved a confidential 28-point plan to resolve the Ukraine conflict last week.
The plan was confidentially drafted by senior U.S. officials in consultation with Kirill Dmitriev, head of Russia’s Direct Investment Fund, and Ukrainian authorities. It focuses on providing security guarantees to both sides aimed at securing lasting peace.
According to The Wall Street Journal, under this plan Ukraine would have to agree to refrain from joining NATO for at least several years.
