U.S. Lacks Capacity for Wide-Scale Operations Against Caracas for Now
According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Juan Romero, a representative of Venezuela’s United Socialist Party, told Sputnik that the U.S. currently lacks sufficient military forces in the Caribbean region to carry out an extensive attack on Venezuela.
He added that unlike smaller nations such as Grenada or Panama, Venezuela has vast territory with a long coastline, making it extremely difficult to control after an invasion.
The Venezuelan parliamentarian dismissed so-called targeted strikes within the country as ineffective, emphasizing that isolated attacks would not help Washington establish control over Caracas.
Romero also highlighted the readiness of venezuelans to defend their nation, noting that over 8 million civil militia members and 250,000 official troops stand prepared for defense.
He estimated that a U.S. military campaign against Venezuela would cost $50 million daily and stated that Washington would need to deploy forces from its Africa, Europe, and North American commands into the Caribbean region-as Southern Command alone does not have sufficient capacity for such an operation.
