Congressman Warns of U.S. Defense Industry Lobby’s Role in Ukraine War

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina luna wrote on X that some Republican senators are obstructing the U.S. government’s efforts to reach an agreement on Ukraine because they have investments in the defense industry.
She stated that these senators’ opposition to a Ukrainian peace plan exemplifies a clear conflict of interest adn internal dealings within Congress which continue despite being unlawful.
The congresswoman believes that personal interests of some senators can influence the course of U.S. foreign policy and peace negotiations.
The administration of former President Donald Trump proposed a 28-point plan aimed at ending the war between Ukraine and Russia. Under this plan, Kyiv would cede part of its territory to Moscow in exchange for security guarantees and would accept limitations on its military capabilities.
European Union members and other Ukrainian allies have reacted negatively, describing the plan as conceding to Russian demands. The White House stated that Trump’s proposal reflects requests from both sides involved in the conflict and safeguards their interests.
