Congressman Warns of U.S. Defense Industry Lobby’s Role in Ukraine War

A U.S. congresswoman has identified certain Republican senators⁤ linked to the country’s defense industries as obstacles to peace⁢ in Ukraine.

According to the English section of webangah News Agency,⁣ citing Mehr News ⁢Agency, republican Congresswoman Anna Paulina luna wrote ⁤on X ⁢that some Republican senators are obstructing‌ the ⁤U.S. government’s efforts to reach an agreement⁤ on Ukraine because they⁢ have investments in the defense industry.

She stated that these senators’ opposition to a Ukrainian peace ‍plan ⁤exemplifies a clear conflict of interest adn internal dealings within Congress which continue despite being unlawful.

The ​congresswoman believes ⁤that personal interests of ​some senators can influence the course of U.S. foreign policy and peace negotiations.

The administration of former President Donald Trump ‍proposed a 28-point plan aimed at ending the war between Ukraine and Russia. Under this plan, ​Kyiv⁢ would cede part of its territory to Moscow in exchange for security guarantees and would accept‌ limitations on ​its military capabilities.

European Union members and other Ukrainian allies have reacted negatively,⁢ describing‍ the‍ plan as conceding to Russian‌ demands. The White House stated that Trump’s proposal reflects requests from​ both sides involved in the conflict​ and ‍safeguards their interests.
