Burhan’s Political Stance
Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and commander of Sudan’s armed forces, emphasized during a meeting with military officers that his forces are determined to retake all areas controlled by rebel groups in Kordofan and Darfur.
He stated that a ceasefire depends entirely on full withdrawal of paramilitary forces from occupied areas following the Jeddah Agreement. He rejected the quadripartite committee’s plan for halting hostilities as “unacceptable” and “biased.”
Al-Burhan also condemned a proposal presented by musaed Boulos, advisor to the U.S. president on Arab and African affairs, calling it “the worst plan.” He said it would effectively dissolve the army and dismantle security institutions while allowing paramilitary groups to remain entrenched in their territories.
He warned that continuing down this path would compromise impartial mediation efforts.

Over 600 others were forced from villages across northern and southern Kordofan. Access to many affected areas remains severely restricted.
Mohamed al-nairi, spokesperson for Sudan liberation Movement/Al-Abdul Wahid Nour Group, described humanitarian conditions under his group’s control as “catastrophic” and said 80 percent of displaced persons face famine risks.
He appealed urgently for increased international aid support.
Medical sources in Tewila also urged expansion of healthcare services since just one hospital must serve over 1.5 million displaced persons. In white Nile State local officials stated more than 16,000 new internally displaced people have arrived from northern Kordofan and Darfur; total displacement figures there now exceed two million individuals.
