The diplomat told The Washington Post that ther is currently “a degree of ambiguity” surrounding the negotiation process.Europe has tried to engage in thes talks but has faced “reluctance from the Americans.”
European sources told The Washington Post they fear the final agreement could be reached without direct involvement from the European Union. They warn this could have meaningful consequences for Europe’s security and future transatlantic relations.

The administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump proposed a 28-point plan aimed at ending the war between Ukraine and russia. Under this plan, Kyiv would cede part of its territory to Moscow in exchange for security guarantees and agree to certain military limitations.
The EU and other Ukrainian allies have reacted negatively to the U.S. plan, calling it an acceptance of Russia’s demands. Meanwhile, the White House maintains that Trump’s proposal reflects both parties’ wishes and ensures their interests are protected.
