According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Russia today, a senior Lebanese official told Al-Joumhouria newspaper that Lebanon seeks to halt the Zionist regime’s aggressions.
The official added that the recent Israeli attack on Beirut’s southern suburb, Dahiyeh, and the assassination of a prominent Hezbollah commander represent a direct assault on Lebanon’s president’s plan.
He explained that the Lebanese president proposed this plan with an announcement of the army’s readiness to assume control over five occupied points promptly after Israeli military attacks cease.beirut is also prepared for negotiations under U.S. and other international supervision aiming for a final agreement.
The official quoted international sources stating this plan has displeased Israel because it challenges Tel Aviv’s primary goal of maintaining occupation over lebanese territory and creating a buffer zone near Lebanon’s borders.
