According to the english section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency,Norbert Röttgen,Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the German Parliament, told the Financial Times that even with notable amendments, the European Union can no longer rely on the United States regarding Washington’s plan to resolve the Ukraine crisis.
He added that recent experiences have shown Europeans cannot depend on America. Such a situation is unprecedented since the end of World War II. “we are now living in a new world,” he said.
the German politician noted that Germany’s political scene has been in shock since details of former President Donald Trump’s peace proposal for Ukraine emerged.
Röttgen described Washington’s plan as a source of concern for European countries and called for an independent EU strategy to address the consequences of the Ukrainian crisis.
The Trump administration offered a 28-point plan aimed at ending the war between Ukraine and Russia. Under this proposal, Kyiv would cede parts of its territory to Moscow in exchange for security guarantees and agree to limitations on its military capabilities.
the European Union and other allies of Ukraine have reacted negatively, labeling it as a fulfillment of Russia’s demands. The White House responded by stating that Trump’s plan reflects both parties’ interests and safeguards their positions in the conflict.
