Russia Issues Candid Response to Macron’s Statements

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson warned in response to​ the French‍ president’s remarks: those ‌who have illegally held Russian assets⁢ must return them.

According to the English section of‌ webangah News ⁢Agency, citing RIA Novosti, Maria ⁣Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry,⁣ responded​ Tuesday to ⁤statements by ⁢French President Emmanuel Macron that Europeans should manage frozen ⁤Russian⁤ assets. She saeid only Moscow‌ has the ​right to decide the fate of its property.

The Russian Foreign Ministry ⁤spokesperson added that those‍ who have illegally held Russia’s assets must return them if they do not want to be seen as ⁢thieves ​and ⁣face the ⁣harshest consequences.

Earlier Tuesday, Emmanuel Macron announced he would establish a working group with Turkey and the United States to ensure security after the war ⁣in Ukraine. He ‍also said⁢ European allies would coordinate on utilizing frozen russian assets. ⁢”We must continue supporting Kyiv, pursue a peace agreement, and⁤ keep pressuring Russia with sanctions to⁣ push Moscow toward serious negotiations,”⁤ Macron stated.
