According to the English section of webangah news Agency citing Mehr News Agency and Reuters, Yuri Ushakov, aide to the Russian president, told Russian television that no discussions took place regarding the details of the US peace plan during meetings between Russian and American representatives in Abu Dhabi.
He emphasized that the Ukraine peace plan was not discussed or reviewed at Abu Dhabi.
Earlier, Ushakov told RIA Novosti that Moscow had received the “latest version” of Washington’s proposed plan.
Ukraine and the European Union are consulting with the United States to amend certain elements of former President Trump’s proposed peace plan, although important changes appear unlikely.
In recent remarks, the US president announced that Washington’s proposed peace plan for Ukraine-originally comprising 28 points-has been reduced to 22 points.
The Guardian previously reported that Ukraine managed to revise the US peace proposal by removing some unacceptable demands and reducing its total clauses from 28 to 19.
Last week, it was reported that Washington presented a 28-point peace initiative which drew criticism from several of Kyiv’s European partners. On November 14, consultations were held in Geneva between US and Ukrainian officials on Washington’s proposal.
Ukrainian media report that delegations from both countries have agreed on most points within the draft. Remaining contentious issues are expected to be addressed during a meeting between President joe Biden and his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told reporters Tuesday that russia regards Ukraine’s initial peace proposal as ”reasonable” and considers it “a suitable basis for negotiations.”
