The English section of webangah News Agency, citing mehr news Agency via Qods, reported that the American website Axios, quoting informed sources, stated that the recent meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was marked by evident tension. The dispute arose as Trump insisted on pushing Riyadh toward normalizing relations.
Another source noted that signs of tension were clearly visible behind closed doors during their meeting. According to the report, the White House had informed bin salman before the meeting that Trump aimed to advance normalization talks with Tel Aviv; however, negotiations escalated into a standoff.
During the talks, bin Salman said saudi Arabia could not proceed with such a step given public hostility towards Israel following the Gaza conflict. He added that public opinion in Saudi Arabia was not ready for normalization. Trump’s dissatisfaction was clearly visible throughout. Bin Salman did not reject normalization outright but deferred further discussion to the future. He emphasized that any move toward normalization must be contingent on Israeli agreement to establish a Palestinian state.
