Kallas: Pressure on Russia Must Increase to Achieve Ceasefire

The EU’s foreign policy chief, Kaya callas, emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine and increasing pressure on russia to end the war. Speaking Wednesday, she stated that there are still no signs of Russian willingness to agree to a ceasefire or end the conflict.
Callas stressed that pressure on Russia must be intensified to reach a ceasefire. She called for additional sanctions aimed at depriving Moscow of its ability to continue fighting.
She added that imposing more sanctions is crucial for limiting Russia’s war capabilities. Security guarantees for Ukraine do not change the fact that Russia remains a threat. The EU supports any peace plan focused on achieving a just and lasting resolution in Ukraine.
Callas claimed there is no indication from Russia showing an interest in peace.she noted that despite Russian claims, its economy is suffering and it is indeed not winning on the battlefield as asserted. “We must end the Russian threat; or else, another country will fall victim,” she warned. according to her, Russian oil revenues fell by 35 percent last november due to European and American sanctions.”We must avoid falling into the trap set by Russia regarding limits on Ukraine’s military,” she concluded.
