Unknown Drone Strikes Major Gas Field in Northern Iraq

The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Baghdad Al-Youm, reported that the Kurmor gas field in Iraqi Kurdistan was targeted by a drone attack for the second time.
Published images from this news outlet show intense flames and thick smoke engulfing the area around the gas field.
The identity of the attacking drone remains unknown.
Earlier this week, Iraqi security sources said that security forces fired at a drone to prevent it from reaching this gas field.
During the incident,alarms sounded at the Kurmor gas field,and staff were evacuated to safe zones.
It was reported that no damage resulted from this attack.
The Kurmor gas field is located between Kirkuk and Sulaymaniyah cities and is managed by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).
This site has been attacked multiple times in recent years, but no group has claimed obligation for these strikes.
Kurdish politicians in the region have previously condemned these attacks.
In April last year, four Yemeni workers were killed in a drone strike targeting this gas field.
Furthermore, in January 2024, two Katyusha rockets were fired toward it.
