Trump: We Will Soon Target Venezuelan Drug Traffickers

On Thursday, the U.S.President announced that the United States will soon target Venezuelan ⁢drug traffickers not only at⁤ sea but also in land operations.

According to the⁤ English section⁢ of webangah News Agency, quoting Mehr News Agency and al-Arabi Al-Jadeed, Donald⁢ Trump ⁤said during a televised address to military forces on Thanksgiving Day, “You’ve probably noticed that⁣ no one wants‌ to smuggle drugs by sea anymore; we will soon stop smuggling by land as ⁣well.” He added,”The ⁤land route is easier, but this ⁤effort will ⁤begin very soon.”

Since ⁣September, U.S. forces have targeted more than 20 boats allegedly used for drug trafficking⁣ in the Caribbean ⁢Sea ⁢and the eastern Pacific Ocean, resulting in at least 83 deaths. The United States has also deployed its largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, along with other warships and fighter jets in the Caribbean region. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro condemned these⁢ measures as a threat aimed at toppling his government and seizing Venezuela’s oil reserves. Meanwhile, Trump has sent mixed signals regarding a possible invasion ⁢of Venezuelan territory; he has authorized covert CIA operations there while reiterating that military intervention remains on the table-although ‌he expressed willingness to engage in dialog with Maduro.

Last Saturday, Reuters reported that the ⁤United States‌ plans to launch a new phase of operations related⁢ to Venezuela in the coming days. Two american officials told‌ Reuters that this ⁤campaign is likely to be ⁤an initial move against Maduro’s ‌regime. The⁣ Wall Street Journal also reported that⁢ the ⁤Trump governance⁢ has identified targets for airstrikes within Venezuela-including military ‌facilities Washington alleges are⁣ involved in drug trafficking.
