Guterres Calls for End to Illegal Occupation of Palestinian Territories

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Sputnik via Mehr News Agency, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres emphasized in a statement on the international Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People that Palestinians have the right to self-determination and justice.
The statement highlighted that the illegal occupation of Palestinian territories must end and that efforts should focus on implementing a two-state solution.
This year’s observance comes after two years marked by immense suffering in Gaza. Tens of thousands in this region have lost relatives and friends, with nearly one-third being children.Widespread destruction of homes, hospitals, and schools has worsened hunger and physical and mental health crises in Gaza.
The statement further noted that the West Bank, including occupied jerusalem, continues to experience attacks by Israeli military forces and settlers alongside an expansion of settlements. Hundreds of aid workers-many from UN agencies-have died, representing the highest number of UN casualties worldwide in any conflict.
Without directly referencing Israeli violations during the ceasefire period in Gaza, Guterres urged all parties to adhere strictly to this agreement.
