Boat Capsizes in Democratic Republic of Congo; 20 Dead
Twenty peopel died following the capsizing of a boat in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
According to webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency and Anadolu Agency, media outlets in the Democratic Republic of Congo reported that a boat carrying cargo and passengers overturned in the Inongo area on Lake Mai-Ndombe. the incident was caused by strong winds and passengers exceeding the boat’s capacity.
The reports confirmed that 20 people lost their lives in the accident.
The exact number of passengers on board remains unknown. So far, 20 bodies have been recovered, and 82 individuals have been rescued.
Search and rescue teams continue their operations in the area.
