Several Killed and Injured in Armed Attack in Northern Iraq
The Kurdistan RegionS Ministry of Interior announced that a civilian was killed and two others wounded in a shooting on the Gwer-Erbil road, according to webangah News Agency.
The ministry stated that the incident occurred when individuals described as rioters opened fire along this route, resulting in these casualties.
This report follows earlier Reuters coverage citing Iraqi security and medical sources, which said at least two people were killed and three others injured on Saturday when Kurdistan Regional Security forces opened fire during a protest near the Lanaz refinery on the road leading to Erbil.
security officials indicated that protesters were demanding job opportunities at the refinery. During their exhibition, security personnel responsible for guarding the facility fired upon those gathered.
According to these sources,one protester was killed by gunfire. Additionally, an oil tanker driver present near the refinery also lost his life in the incident.
