American Officials Surprised by Trump’s Move Against Venezuela

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, Reuters reported that U.S. officials were taken aback by President Donald Trump’s decision to declare Venezuelan airspace closed. Thay had no prior knowledge of any military operation against Venezuela or the necessity to shut down its airspace.
yesterday, president Trump announced that all airspace over and around Venezuela would be closed until further notice.
Agence France-Presse quoted the U.S. president describing this antagonistic action as a strict measure against drug traffickers and human smugglers who must consider Venezuelan airspace entirely off-limits.
Since September, U.S. forces have targeted more than 20 boats alleged to be used for drug trafficking in the Caribbean Sea and eastern pacific ocean, resulting in at least 83 deaths. The United States has also deployed its largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, along with other warships and fighter jets, in the Caribbean region as part of an officially declared anti-narcotics operation.
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro condemned this move as a threat aimed at overthrowing his government and seizing the country’s oil reserves.
