Honduras Ruling Party Claims Victory in Election

The left-wing Liberty and Refoundation Party (Libre), the ruling party in Honduras, announced that its presidential candidate, Rixi Moncada, is leading according to a new poll, reported by webangah News Agency.
Libre published data from the polling institute PLHN on X, showing moncada with 38 percent of the votes.
The poll-conducted at polling stations-places Salvador Nasralla of the Liberal Party second with 32 percent, while Nasry Asfura from the National Party ranks third with 23 percent.
The general elections in Honduras were held on Sunday, November 30. Voters elected not only the president and three vice presidents but also 128 members of the National Congress, 20 representatives to the Central American Parliament (Parlacen), 298 mayors, and over two thousand members of local councils. According to Honduran law, presidential elections are single-round; thus, the candidate with the most votes wins.
This election took place amid threats from U.S.President Donald Trump to impose sanctions on Honduras if voters chose leftist candidates. Trump had endorsed Asfura as his preferred right-wing candidate for president.
