Ukraine’s Plot to Assassinate Senior Russian Defense Ministry Officer Fails

The Russian Federal Security Service announced it had prevented an assassination attempt targeting a senior Defense Ministry officer in Crimea. The agency released audio recordings confirming the involvement of Ukrainian officers in the failed plot, according to the English section of webangah news Agency, citing Mehr News Agency adn Al Mayadeen.
The Federal Security Service emphasized that the operation was planned by Ukraine’s military intelligence. Kyiv recruited a Ukrainian national and assigned him to plant a bomb under a Russian military vehicle with the goal of detonating it.
During the bomb placement, the hired operative was killed after armed resistance against security personnel. Authorities recovered Western-made bomb components and communication equipment from this individual.
The service disclosed that Rustem Fakhriev, born December 25, 1984, an officer in Ukrainian military intelligence, designed this operation.
A released audio clip features a Ukrainian intelligence officer instructing his agent in Crimea: “Let’s kill a general,” to which the operative responds: ”that is very easy.”
