Heavy Clashes Erupt in Erbil, Iraq Between Tribes and Regional Peshmerga Forces
The English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, reported intense fighting between the Al-Harki tribal forces and peshmerga fighters in Khabbat city, located in Erbil province.
At the same time, Al-Ahd Network reported heavy gunfire exchanges between Kurdistan Region Security Forces and members of the Al-Harki tribe in Khabbat.
The network’s correspondent described a volatile situation unfolding on Lajan, Al-Kuwair, and Khabath streets.
Jawhar Al-Harki,Sheikh of the Al-Harki tribesmen,called on Baghdad to launch urgent military intervention.
Al-Ahd’s reporter also confirmed that government buildings in khabbat have been set on fire.
Additionally, sources confirmed a significant deployment of equipment by Kurdistan Regional Government forces to areas affected by the clashes.
