American Media: Moscow and Washington Draw Closer, Europe Stands Alone

According to the English section of webangah News Agency, citing Mehr News Agency, The Wall Street Journal quoted a French official saying that russia and the United States would have long ago reached an agreement to resolve the Ukraine crisis had Europe not intervened.
The unnamed French official told The Wall Street Journal that in Europe’s absence, Russian President Vladimir Putin and former U.S. President Donald Trump had already agreed on ending the Ukraine conflict.
The official added that now Europe is “left alone” because Washington has stepped back from the region, forcing the continent to rely more heavily on its own capabilities.
The American media outlet reported that Trump’s peace plan for Ukraine has deepened divisions among NATO member states.
International news agency Reuters also described the U.S. peace plan for Ukraine-issued without regard for Brussels’ concerns-as a “bad deal” for Europe.
Reuters noted European officials worry that any final agreement over ukraine may neither punish nor weaken Russia but instead further jeopardize continental security.
The report stated Washington might even begin extensive economic cooperation with Moscow despite thier customary NATO partnership with Europe.
Citing Luc Van middelaar, director of Brussels’ geopolitical think tank, Reuters wrote: “It appears increasingly accepted that ultimately a ‘bad deal’ will be reached. Trump favors an agreement based on great-power logic where America and Russia are viewed as two major powers who must negotiate directly.”
Reuters concluded by observing: “Europe is paying now for neglecting military capability growth in recent years and still lacks sufficient leverage to take an effective role at the negotiating table.”
