Former EU Foreign Policy Chief Mogherini Arrested in Fraud Probe

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated on Tuesday that Europe prefers to ignore its own internal problems. Zakharova added that the European Union prefers to disregard its own issues while constantly advising others.
The arrest of Federica Mogherini, the former High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, occurred during a widespread operation by Belgian police investigating the alleged misuse of EU funds. The operation included raids on the College of Europe and the European External Action Service.
The investigation centers on fraud related to the training of young diplomats using EU funding. Belgian authorities had previously arrested three other suspects in connection with the case.
