Russian Official Reacts to Federica Mogherini’s Arrest Over EU Funds Misuse

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia, commented on the arrest of Federica Mogherini, the former Italian Foreign Minister and former head of EU foreign policy, who was detained on suspicion of misusing EU funds. Medvedev quipped that her position in the European Union apparently was quite profitable.
Belgian police arrested Mogherini during a large-scale operation targeting the misuse of European Union funds.
The arrest of the former EU foreign policy chief involved raids on the College of Europe and the External Action Service as part of an investigation into fraud related to the EU-funded training of young diplomats.
Belgian authorities had previously arrested three suspects in connection with the case.
