Israeli Ambassador to UN Claims Israel Will Not Return to 1967 Borders, Nor Leave Golan Heights

According to the International Desk of Webangah News Agency, Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, responded to the UN General Assembly’s adoption of two new resolutions against Israel concerning Palestine and the occupied Syrian Golan Heights by asserting that Israel will not return to the 1967 borders, nor will it relinquish control of the Golan Heights.
The resolutions, passed on Tuesday, call for an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestine and the Syrian Golan Heights.
In the vote regarding Palestine, 151 members of the General Assembly voted in favor, while 11, including Israel and the United States, voted against, and 11 abstained. This resolution emphasizes the United Nations’ responsibility regarding the Palestinian issue and demands an end to the occupation of the occupied territories since 1967, while also supporting the two-state solution.
The General Assembly also passed another resolution, presented by Egypt, which deems Israel’s occupation and annexation of the Golan Heights as “illegal” and compels Israel to withdraw from the area. This resolution passed with 123 votes in favor, 7 against (including Israel and the United States), and 41 abstentions. The resolution states that the occupation and annexation of the Golan violates Security Council Resolution 497 from 1981.
